Kimberly is an experienced Speech Language Pathologist who spends her days giving kids a voice. She began creating stories for the students she worked with while completing her M.A. at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After graduation, she continued creating stories for the preschool and elementary students on her caseload. These early stories turned into the Freddie the Fly series published by Boys Town Press. Freddie the Fly is a social series that uses humor and established strategies to help children have fun while improving their communication.
Continuing the tradition of making accessible materials she combined her language expertise with familiar fairy tales to create Fairy Tales 2.0. It is a first of its kind at home program to empower parents and give them the tools they need to help their child’s language grow. Read like a traditional story, the books walk adults through how to read to promote language growth. These books were awarded the Massachusetts State Clinical Achievement Award in 2020.
The goal of her books is to provide resources that parents, teachers, caregivers and therapists feel comfortable using to help children grow.
A firm believer in giving back she enjoys nurturing the next generation of SLP’s. She’s been supervising graduate students for the past eight years. If you’ve ever been curious about supervising but not sure where to start you can check out her course on Speech Therapy PD and earn CEU’s while you watch.
If you are an SLP looking for resources check out her print and digital resources on her BOOM and TPT stores.
